Facing the sun with eyeglasses
Hey all you cool cats and kittens! If you’re wearing prescription eyeglasses, it's not always easy dealing with the sun, but it’s still important to protect your eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays. UV light may cause retinal damage and other eye problems, such as cataracts, for example. So, it’s critical to keep your eyes safe at all times. This used to mean switching back and forth between your glasses and sunglasses. However, sunglasses aren’t always built for vision correction. Luckily, we have plenty of solutions for that. In our e-shop, you can buy quality, prescription glasses and have them equipped with several features that protect you from sunlight, glare, and other bright lights. Let’s take a look at our options.

Still not convinced? Well, here are just a few of the benefits of sun clip-ons:
- They fit in any bag. They are small, portable, and easy to carry with you.
- They are easy to use. Most of them are magnetic, so they attach to your glasses easily.
- They save you money. You won't need to buy two pairs of prescription glasses, and they are significantly cheaper than prescription sunglasses.
Keep in mind, it’s important to buy clip-ons that fit your current model of eyeglasses, to ensure a perfect fit. We’re here for you with a wide selection of clip-on sets!
Clear lenses with a built-in UV filter
All our lenses for eyeglasses come with a set of standard lens treatments, including a UV filter. This means that, at no additional charge, every pair of glasses purchased from us will already protect you from harmful UV rays . However, this treatment does not shield your eyes from bright light, and it does not help you see better when the sun is out.
Self-tinting lenses
We also offer the option of self-tinting lenses, also known as photochromic lenses or transition lenses. This treatment is available for both for single vision lenses, as well as multifocal lenses. These special lenses automatically adapt to the light conditions of your environment . This means that they’ll lighten and be clear when you’re indoors or in low light conditions, and when you step out into bright light or the sun, they’ll darken. This special type of lens has been around since the 1960s, but the technology has since advanced by leaps and bounds.
Self-tinting lenses now offer following benefits:
- They are convenient. You won’t need to switch between sunglasses and your normal glasses.
- The transition between light and dark happens smoothly and quickly.
- They offer full UV protection.
- They are available in different colours.
- They are compatible with all our frames.
- They save you money by eliminating the need for both glasses and sunglasses.
Prescription sunglasses
We also offer the option to turn your glasses into proper prescription sunglasses in order to protect your eyes from UV rays. This will take your prescription lenses and permanently tint them. Based on how dark you want your prescription sunglasses to be, we offer you the choice of a 50, 75, or 85 percent tint. Eighty five percent tinted lenses are the equivalent of normal sunglasses in terms of their ability to shield your eyes from bright light. You can choose from either brown, grey, or green lens colours. Choosing to turn your single vision or multifocal lenses into prescription sunglasses allows you to transform your favourite frames into a cool pair of shades at a great price.
