The Eye Doctor Premium eye mask
The Eye Doctor Premium Sterileyes eye mask
This is a wonderful eye mask which can be used as both a cold and warm compress to combat a variety of issues. The inner part of the mask is filled with BodyBeads that can hold a certain temperature for a longer time.
The outer part of the mask is made from a fabric that has effective antibacterial properties. This is called Sterileyes and it eliminates up to 99.9% of bacteria. The fabric shields itself from stains, lasts a very long time and is extremely skin-friendly. It does not interfere with the natural bacterial microflora of the skin around the eye.
How to properly use the mask as a cold compress?
Cold compresses can bring relief, especially in case one suffers from hay fever, allergy, fatigue, headaches, migraines or sore eyes. It’s safe to use cold compresses as often as needed – there is no limit.
Instructions:
- Remove the inner part of
the mask and place it in a clean plastic bag, which is then to
be placed in the freezer. Be careful to keep the beads inside the mask
evenly spread.
- Leave the inner part of the mask
inside the plastic bag to cool for at least 2 hours.
- Once the inner mask part has sufficiently chilled, place it
back into the outer textile layer. The mask is now ready for use.
- Assume a comfortable position, place the mask over your closed eyes,
fasten it and leave it on for a while.
- After use, you can put the
mask back in the freezer.
- In case you want to use the mask as a
warm compress, keep it at room temperature, and then follow the
instructions on how to properly heat it.
How to properly use the mask as a warm compress?
Warm compresses are a clinically proven treatment for conditions such as MGD, blepharitis, eyelid cysts, dry eyes, but they also work for irritated or sore eyes. If you are repeatedly in need of a warm eye compress, consult your doctor first.
Instructions:
- Remove
the inner part of the mask (make sure it’s at room temperature) and place it
in a clean container or on a plate, suitable for use in your
selected oven (microwave or conventional). Be careful to keep the beads inside
the mask evenly spread before heating.
- Place
the inner mask inside your microwave or conventional oven and follow the
temperature and time indications below, according to the device you are using.
POWER 0 to 850 W: heat for maximum 30 seconds
POWER 851 to 1000 W: heat for maximum 15 seconds
(This was determined for a microwave oven with a rotary base operating at full power)
These heating instructions are also shown on the inner pouch of The Eye Doctor Premium Sterileyes.
Heating via conventional oven
Place the inner mask with the beads in a heat-resistant dish.
Place that in a preheated oven at 150 °C for 7–10 minutes
(Preheat a hot-air oven to 140 °C or gas 2).
You can slightly adjust these instructions based on your experience with your own oven.
WARNING – if you’ve overheated the inner mask, do not use it anymore and replace it with a new mask.
3. Once the inner part of the mask is warmed up,
insert it into the outer textile layer and test the
temperature on the inside of your wrist. If it feels too hot, wait a
moment. Otherwise your mask is ready for use.
4. Assume a comfortable
position, place the mask over your closed eyes, fasten it and leave it on for
about 7 to 10 minutes.
5. After use, allow the mask to
come back to room temperature. You can then repeat the heating process, if you
like.
Combining warmth with an eye massage
By warming up the eyelids, the fat content of the glands becomes soft and can be removed from the glands. Therefore, it is appropriate to stimulate the eyelids after using a warm eye compress in order to properly facilitate this process. At the same time, you’ll need to pay attention to eye hygiene. This means that you’ll need to clean the eyes properly after the massage. We recommend using sterile wipes, specifically designed to clean eyes, after each eye massage.
Instructions:
- Wash your hands
thoroughly and prepare your sterile wipes or a clean cloth.
- Close your eyes and gently massage the edges of the
eyelids with the tip of your finger. This should not feel uncomfortable. Apply
gentle but firm pressure. This massage can be done with a sterile wipe wrapped
around your finger.
For the upper eyelids:
move your finger down from the eyebrows to the lashes of the upper eyelid.
For the lower eyelids: move your finger up from the cheek
towards the lashes of the lower eyelid.
3. After the massage, your vision
may become blurry for a moment. This will subside within a few minutes. If this
does not disappear within the hour, consult your doctor.
4. After the
massage, wipe away the secretions from the glands with a clean cloth or
with sterile wipes.
